NRRS Reservation Policies


As the NRRS changes, several Policies have been updated / modified to serve all of our customers better! Please see the following sections for changes to current policies for agencies currently participating in the NRRS and the new agencies that are joining the NRRS.

Making a Reservation
You can reserve the following types of facilities through the NRRS

Individual Campsites
Up to 240 Days in Advance for USDA Forest Service and US Army Corps of Engineers.
Up to 6 Months (rolling window) in Advance for National Park Service, Bureau of Reclamation and Bureau of Land Management
5 Months (block window) for Yosemite National Park - Inventory goes on-sale on the 15th of each Month

Cabins & Lookouts (booking window varies. Reserve at 180, 240 and 360 days in Advance) Alaska Cabins - reserve up to 180 days in advance

Group Facilities
Up to 360 Days in Advance for USDA Forest Service and US Army Corps of Engineers.
Up to 12 months in advance

Call Center Effective February 7, 2007 the Call Center Hours will be changed. Please see the below section for Hours of Operation and Phone Numbers:

Method of Payment
The NRRS has made changes to the payment policy for customers, specifically that Certified Checks will no longer be accepted for Advanced Reservations beginning January 31, 2007. Customers must pay by one of the valid credit card methods outlined below. Field Sales Channel locations may still accept Certified / Personal or Travelers Checks locally for payments on-site. This change impacts ALL Agencies within the NRRS.

Recreation.gov Billing Information: With the introduction of the new Recreation.gov web site, customer�s monthly credit card statements will reflect "Recreation.gov 888-448-1474", for reservation transactions.

Changes and Cancellations:

  • Camping: A $10.00 service fee will apply if you change or cancel your reservation for Camping Reservations (including Campsites, Cabins, Group Facilities, etc.

Late Cancellations:

  • Individual Campsites: If an individual cancels an individual campsite reservation the day before arrival, or on the day of arrival they will be charged the $10.00 service fee and forfeit the first night use fee. Cancellations for a single night's use will not be assessed a service fee.
  • Cabins/Lookouts: If a customer cancels a cabin or lookout reservation within 14 days of your scheduled arrival date, they will be charged the $10.00 service fee and forfeit the first night's recreation use fee. No-shows, Early Departures, or Cancellations after the scheduled arrival date, are not entitled to a refund. Cancellations for single night's use will not be assessed a service fee. If a customer cancels a group day use facility reservation within 14 days of the scheduled arrival date, they will forfeit the total day use fee with no service fee change.
  • Group Facility: If a customer cancels a group overnight facility reservation within 14 days of the scheduled arrival date they will be charged the $10.00 service fee and forfeit the first night's use fee. Cancellations for a single night's use will not be assessed a service fee. If a customer cancels a group day use facility reservation within 14 days of the scheduled arrival date, they will forfeit the total day use fee with no service fee charge.
No-shows:
  • Camping: If the customer does not arrive at the campground or group facility and do not cancel the reservation by the times listed above, they will be assessed a $20.00 service fee and forfeit the first night use fee or the total day use fee.
Refunds: Refunds must be requested no later than 14 days after your scheduled departure date.
  • Reservation Fee: If a reservation fee is charged, it is NON-REFUNDABLE. This fee, for some facilities, is currently $9.00.
  • Service Fee: This fee will be deducted from the amount of the refund given to the customer.
  • Bankcard Purchases: Refunds for bankcard payments will be issued as a credit to the original bankcard.
  • Check or Cash Purchases: Refunds for NRRS payments made by check or money order, and cash payments at selected campgrounds will be issued a check refund. A refund will be processed within 30 days of receipt and approval.
  • Refund requests made during or after departure can only be processed when approved by the facility management staff based upon local policy.

Emergency Closures: In the event of an emergency closure, the NRRS will attempt to notify users and offer alternate dates and sites. If this is not possible, all fees paid will be refunded.

Golden Age or Golden Access Passports have been Replaced with the Interagency Senior or Interagency Access Passports: Holders of the Interagency Senior and Access Passes (and the Golden Age and Access Passes) may receive a fifty-percent discount on the basic recreation use fee for individual campsites. This discount does not apply to fees for cabins, lookouts or group facilities and for certain facilities (Forest Service) amenities such as electricity, water, sewer, or extra fees charged for prime or premium sites. The discount card, a photo ID, and the reservation number must be presented when the customer picks up tickets at the facility.

  • Making Reservations: Customers having one of these discounts are required to provide the discount number at the time the reservation is made to receive the discount. If the customer makes more than one reservation for the same location and date(s), the discount will only apply to the site the discount holder occupies.
  • Upon Arrival: Customers using one of these discounts are required to present the Passport and one form of identification to confirm the discount. If you do not provide proper documentation, you must pay the full recreation use fee prior to using the facility.
Changes to the Policies and Procedures: The NRRS reserves the right when necessary to modify reservation policies.
